The Problem With Practice.

Sketchifer

Salutations, friend -

We buckle down to work on portraiture, learn perspective, figure out how the heck to even draw hands, and then -

🔥 Total burnout 🥲

Technical skill is necessary for creating great art. But there are times you shouldn’t be working on the fundamentals. Sometimes you should to avoid practice. So, what to do instead?

🚰 Fill Your Cup.

Passion is like water in a cup 💧

Drawing your favorite anime character, designing some original concepts, making silly doodles with friends - stuff you actually ENJOY fills your cup 🥳

When you practice and grind, you expend water. If the cup becomes empty for too long, it dries and shatters. We quit without a vessel to hold our passion.

The Key To Success.

In a world of the every-day-grind, we feel like if we’re not learning, we’re falling behind.

But when we play the long game, we understand that passion is an invaluable resource; It’s the fuel that allows us to keep moving forward. It’s what rest is to the athlete: not just important, but required 😴❤️‍🔥

First Things First.

We all begin with shallow cups. But each time they’re filled, our vessel becomes a little more capacious, and holds a bit more water.

Build a big cup, and fill it to the brim, first. Then, when it’s time to grind, and do difficult things, you have enough to spare 💪

For if you learn all the art knowledge in the world, but quit because of burnout - what have you gained?

Do It For You.

Drawing for fun, and creating what you enjoy, is never a waste of time.

So draw something you love today for us - or more importantly, for you 💜
