This Doesn’t Have To Be Scary.
Figure drawing can be a haunting challenge -
But “quick sketch” provides a tremendous solution!
It improves your people drawing skills, is fun & a great way to connect with other artists.
Quick sketch figure drawing sessions consist of short poses, ranging from 2 to 20 minutes.
Learning is mostly about repetition & this exercise allows for an extraordinary amount of practice in a short amount of time; often 12+ finished pieces in just a couple hours!
Additionally, the time constraint of quick sketch helps us prioritize what’s most important.
Imagine if you had 24 hours to find your perfect Halloween outfit versus only 2 hours; you might find that you are suddenly much more focused & efficient!
Trick or Tip.
Now, if you can only draw a stick figure - well that’s perfect!
Try using this simple “wireframe” to find the pose, angle & proportions of the figure before adding those big shapes.
Dress up, draw & be drawn.
Our upcoming Halloween costume figure drawing event combines this effective learning style with a fun twist -
You’ve put in a lot of effort to create your sweet Halloween outfit, so here’s your chance to show it off & let your fellow artists immortalize your costume on paper.
Feeling shy? Not a problem! Just hang back and sketch the cool costumes you see.
Remember, there’s no expectation for what you should produce; this is a supportive space for all ages & skill levels.
Simply join us, learn from one another, make friends & be inspired~
